Little Haiti Revitalization Trust Brings Konpa Back to the Historical Mache Ayisyen

There’s a beautiful cultural revival happening in the heart of Miami’s Little Haiti, and it’s being powered by a force deeply invested in community, culture, and commerce — the Little Haiti Revitalization Trust. Known for its unwavering commitment to keeping the cultural and economic fabric of Little Haiti intact, the Trust has been instrumental in helping small businesses grow and thrive. Through generous $10K and $20K grant opportunities, they have provided essential funding for local entrepreneurs to stay in business and continue serving the neighborhood with pride. One of the exciting outcomes of these efforts is the return of Konpa to the Historical Mache Ayisyen, also known as the Little Haiti Cultural Center.

We at KOTR Dance Studio are proud to be among the businesses directly impacted by the Trust’s generous support. Our Free Konpa Saturdays are back — and this time, they are fully funded by the Little Haiti Revitalization Trust. What once started as a program under the City of Miami, when we hosted Konpa Saturdays at the Cultural Center, has now returned with even more flavor, energy, and purpose.

What is the Little Haiti Revitalization Trust?

The Little Haiti Revitalization Trust (LHRT) is a community-centered organization established to promote the sustainable development and preservation of Little Haiti’s unique cultural identity. Beyond cultural preservation, the Trust plays a vital economic role by offering financial support to neighborhood businesses through strategic grantmaking. Their efforts empower small business owners, artists, and organizations who represent the heartbeat of the community.

Thanks to their targeted investments, Little Haiti has seen a resurgence of local events, art shows, culinary experiences, and performances that are both authentic and accessible. By investing in real people doing real work in the neighborhood, LHRT helps to keep Little Haiti vibrant and evolving — without losing its soul.

KOTR Dance Studio: Proud Recipient & Cultural Contributor

KOTR Dance Studio has always believed in the power of Konpa, not just as a dance but as a cultural expression of Haitian joy, resilience, and unity. When we first introduced Konpa Saturdays at the Cultural Center, it quickly became a gathering space for locals and visitors alike. While city funding came to an end, our desire to continue never stopped.

Thanks to the Little Haiti Revitalization Trust, our Free Konpa Saturdays have returned — giving the community a chance to gather, dance, and celebrate Haitian culture together again.
